Saltair manages all project stages in-house, from concept design, reports, and detailed planning to building approvals, construction, and turnkey certification. As a Procurement Manager, you’ll be supported by a skilled and experienced team to help you quickly get up to speed with our streamlined systems and processes.
About the Role
As the Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining the quality standards that have earned us our awards. Your responsibilities include:
- Understanding modular design and project site conditions to ensure projects are costed effectively
- Conduct competitive tenders of packages
- Develop project specific scopes of works
- Undertaking detailed project take offs for supplier and subcontractor engagement
- Maintaining and updating labour and materials catalogue's within an estimating program
- Letting trade and supplier packages in accordance with set budgets
- Negotiate with subcontractors to develop the most competitive rates for the business
- Cold call subcontractors / suppliers to build the procurement field available to the business
- Building new and strong relationships with supplier and subcontractors
- Engaging with Engineers, Certifiers and designers to identify more efficient building methods
- Developing the companies supply chain to ensure it is more robust and reliable
- Work closely with the estimating department to ensure cost over runs or savings are included in future tenders.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate;
- Experience in completing construction project take offs to facilitate project procurement
- Experience in quoting, compiling and comparing trade and supplier packages ready for engagement
- Ability to build relationships with suppliers and negotiate commercial terms
- Passionate and self-driven to look for cost efficiencies at all times
- Genuine enthusiasm to identify alternative procurement methods
- Track record of at least 3+ years in the construction industry
- Experience as a contract administrator would be beneficial
- Experience in Premier Accounting software beneficial
- Experience with Cost X is beneficial
- Experience in managing the procurement of multiple projects simultaneously is beneficial
- Estimating experience nice but not essential
- Experience in modular nice but not essential
