Animal Emergency Service (AES) Hawthorn East

At AES Hawthorn East, part of the Animal Emergency Australia (AEA) network, you’ll collaborate with some of the most highly skilled ECC professionals in the industry, with a strong culture of mentorship and knowledge sharing.

AES Hawthorn is a well-equipped, purpose-built emergency and critical care hospital, providing access to:

- On-site CT machine
- Digital radiology
- Blood gas and advanced point-of-care diagnostics
- Multiparameter monitoring and anesthetic ventilators
- Dedicated surgical suites with Melbourne city views
- Separate dog and cat ICU

About the Role

As an ECC Veterinary Nurse, you will be involved in triage, hospital case management, surgery and critical nursing. We have a strong senior nursing team here that are not only here to work alongside you but also help and mentor you to support your professional development.

- Hands on triage, pathology, radiography, treatments, surgery, and patient care
- Critical care nursing, we pride ourselves on delivering excellent patient care
- Open hospital model, delivering quality experiences for clients
- Roster designed to support nurse wellbeing, learning & development, mentoring
- Collaborative approach to care between vets and vet nurses
- Wildlife and exotics exposure
- Permanent part-time roster (40–60 hours per fortnight) designed to support work-life balance
- Above award rates ($32.13 – $35.18+) + penalties + super + 17.5% Annual Leave loading

About You

- Minimum of 1-year ECC experience or 5 years GP experience
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology




- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- You bring a growth mindset, love learning new skills and best-practice methods
- Committed to providing quality care within an open hospital model
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Be part of an on-call roster, picking up one shift a month
- Reliable mode of transport (essential for shift work)
