The primary purpose of the Senior Prosecutor/ Prosecutor (Trial Counsel Section) is to contribute to the processing of legal matters through the South Australian Judicial system by preparing files for trial, and through the conduct of those trials. This will include:

- Appearing as Trial Counsel
- Preparing written and oral submissions for a variety of proceedings
- Undertaking plea negotiations
- Identifying, analysing and advising upon key legal and factual issues in matters
- Completing post-trial documentation
- Conducting proofing with victims and witnesses to prepare them for trial

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is an office of approximately 200 staff, comprising both legal and administrative functions. The ODPP was established through the Director of Public Prosecutions Act, 1991 to provide an effective,



fair and independent criminal prosecution service for the people of South Australia. The Office is committed to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested.
