Are you a driven university student with a genuine interest in investing and a curiosity about how a family office puts capital to work across asset classes? This internship offers unusually close exposure to how a global, multi-asset portfolio is researched, implemented and managed day to day.

About Friday Group

Friday Group is a Brisbane-based single-family office managing a global, multi-asset portfolio across direct investments, external investment managers and co-investments.

About the Role

This is a paid, one-year internship in a small, high-trust team. Your work will comprise investment and portfolio work, investment operations, and data and business improvement. You will report to the COO and work closely with the CEO, CFO and other members of the investment team.

The role combines front-end investment exposure with the detailed work required to implement decisions properly. You should expect to move between research, analysis and due diligence, and KYC, fund documentation, transaction support, data and reporting. Accurate records, strong controls and disciplined follow-through are essential to protecting capital.

You will have access to confidential information about the family, portfolio and businesses in which we invest. Sound judgement and discretion are essential.

What You Will Do

Investment and portfolio work

- Support asset allocation analysis, deep-dive research and portfolio re-underwriting across asset classes and investment opportunities.

- Assist with the selection, due diligence and ongoing monitoring of external investment managers.

- Support direct investments and co-investments, together with portfolio performance analysis and reporting.

Investment operations

- Help coordinate new fund onboarding, including KYC and AML, subscription documents, internal approvals, funding, record capture and follow-up with external providers.

- Assist with side letters, transfers, capital calls, distributions, reconciliations, cash-flow planning and other investment documentation.





- Maintain complete and accurate investment records, due diligence files, data and supporting documentation.

Data and business improvement

- Improve data, reporting and control processes, including practical uses of AI in research, due diligence and operations.

- Document, streamline and automate workflows, and build models that improve portfolio visibility and decision-making.

Examples of Projects

- Assessing whether private equity returns have adequately compensated for illiquidity and the timing of cash flows.

- Preparing an external manager review covering performance, positioning, organisational developments and a recommendation.

- Building a model to analyse portfolio exposures, liquidity, cash flows or performance across managers and asset classes.

- Supporting the commercial and investment due diligence for a direct investment or co-investment opportunity.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of the internship, the successful candidate should be able to own a defined investment research question, build the analysis and present a concise recommendation. They should also be able to manage a defined operational process from documentation and follow-up through to accurate completion, using sound judgement and escalating issues appropriately.

Who We're Looking For

- Have completed at least their first year of university study and are currently studying in a relevant or analytically demanding discipline.

- Have a genuine interest in financial markets, investing and how portfolios are constructed and managed, and learn quickly when facing unfamiliar questions.

- Communicate clearly in writing and pay close attention to detail.





- Have an aptitude for Excel and quantitative analysis; experience with financial modelling, Python or data tools would be well regarded but is not essential.

- Exercise sound judgement and handle confidential information carefully as a matter of instinct.

- Are willing to move between strategic investment questions and detailed execution work, and take equal pride in doing both well.

Internship Details

- Location: Our Brisbane office, with secure off-street parking and access to public transport.

- Schedule and duration: Two to three days per week for one year, in the office. We can adjust the weekly structure around university timetables and examination periods, but candidates should be able to commit for at least 12 months.

- Remuneration: This is a paid internship. Remuneration will be competitive with comparable roles and reflect the candidate's experience and year of study.

- Eligibility: Currently studying and entitled to work in Australia for the duration of the internship.

- Start date: October 2026.
