The position will be primarily based at the company's flagship store located at Shop 5, 130 Queen Street, Brisbane QLD 4000.
As the business continues to expand its retail presence throughout the Brisbane CBD and surrounding metropolitan area, the successful candidate will also oversee the operations and performance of additional Brisbane stores. The role is responsible for driving store performance, leading and supporting retail teams, maintaining exceptional customer service standards, managing stock availability, achieving sales targets, ensuring consistent implementation of company policies and procedures, and maintaining the Palermo Perfumes brand to the highest professional standards across all assigned locations. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate store opening and closing procedures, allocate daily staff duties and ensure the store is prepared for customer service and trading activities.
- Recruit, onboard, train,
coach and supervise retail employees in product knowledge, selling techniques, customer engagement, cash procedures and store standards.
- Monitor daily and weekly sales performance against established targets and implement practical actions to improve sales results and customer conversion.
- Conduct stock counts, monitor inventory levels, coordinate replenishment and transfers, and investigate shortages, discrepancies or damaged stock.
- Prepare and monitor store budgets, control operating expenses and analyse sales and product performance to support business objectives.
- Maintain accurate cash and financial controls, including till and EFTPOS reconciliation, expense records, discrepancy investigation and end-of-day reporting.
- Implement company pricing, promotional campaigns, product launches, visual merchandising and sales initiatives in accordance with head-office requirements.
- Assist customers with product selection and provide advice on fragrances and product features while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
- Resolve customer complaints, exchanges and service concerns professionally while coaching employees to maintain consistent customer-service standards.
- Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, loss-prevention procedures, store security practices and safe opening and closing processes.
- Provide operational support across store locations and assist with the preparation, setup and opening of current or relocated retail stores.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- AQF Certificate IV or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business, Commerce, Management or another closely related discipline.
- At least 12 months of relevant work experience in retail operations, store supervision or retail management.
- At least three years of relevant retail management experience may substitute for the required formal qualification.
- Demonstrated experience managing daily store operations, staff performance, customer service and achievement of sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, stock replenishment, merchandising standards and retail financial record maintenance.
- Proven ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate retail employees within a customer-focused sales environment.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills for advising customers, resolving concerns and supporting productive staff relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare budgets, control operating expenses and analyse sales and product performance information.
- Availability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends, public holidays and extended trading periods when required.
