The key duties of the position include:

We are seeking experienced and motivated Finance Officers to join various teams in our ATO Finance Business line.

As a Finance Officer, you will undertake a range of financial and accounting activities, largely governed by established guidelines and procedures. This will include providing insight, advice and decision support to a range of stakeholders to improve resource management matters under the guidance of other team members.

You will prioritise your work to ensure you meet competing deadlines and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support the team in delivering high-quality financial outcomes.

We have roles available in various teams:

Corporate Services, Systems and Tax Management, provide critical corporate services and enterprise systems that enable the ATO to operate effectively. Our teams manage key finance, payroll, travel, and taxation functions, including accounts payable, official travel, employee pay, GST and PAYG withholding. We also deliver and support core enterprise platforms, including SAP Finance, and lead finance transformation initiatives that enhance organisational capability and efficiency.

You will need a basic understanding of finance and ability to provide support for the administration of departmental accounts, corporate credit cards, corporate travel and finance systems.

Finance Service Delivery is the front door to ATO Finance for financial services. We are experts at understanding our client business priorities, their setting and providing trusted services and advice that support effective and efficient financial management activities. With FSD providing administrative and governance support,



our clients can focus on delivering their core business.

You will need to understand budget management, financial management processes, forecasts, reconciliations, reporting, banking management, general ledger mapping and accruals.

Corporate Budgeting and Financial Reporting manage and facilitate the ATO’s strategic long-term resource allocation to achieve a balanced budget, to support organisational priorities. We provide budgeting, forecasting financial reporting, analysis, and advice to our partners and key ATO Committees.

You will need to understand facilitating budget allocations at the ATO level to support organisational priorities, gathering and investigating intelligence from various sources to identify risks, emerging trends and opportunities.

Our ideal candidate:

• has experience using financial management systems (preferably SAP, Cognos, VIPER and CBMS),



together with strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other software applications

• compiles and analyses reports, trends, and data to inform decision-making, identify risks and opportunities, and implement value-add solutions

• has strong attention to detail, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues related to financial accounting and reconciliation processes, resource management, operational reporting, and assurance activities

• works collaboratively within a team, asks questions to understand the basis of their work, shows good judgment, seeks out opportunities and contributes to process improvement

• communicates effectively in a range of styles and formats to deliver technical information and influence outcomes.

Qualifications or experience in relevant fields, such as Accounting, Finance or Economics will be highly regarded but not essential.
