We're partnering with a large enterprise technology business that's investing in the redevelopment of a critical customer platform. They're looking for a Senior API Engineer with strong commercial Golang experience to design, build and own secure, scalable APIs from the ground up.

You'll be responsible for:

- Designing, building and maintaining production-grade RESTful APIs from scratch using Golang
- Developing scalable backend services and microservices that power high-volume applications
- Designing efficient data models and working with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Firestore or similar)
- Implementing secure authentication, authorisation and API security best practices
- Driving API performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability
- Contributing to architecture, code quality and engineering best practices across the platform
- Collaborating with engineers, QA and product teams in an Agile environment
- 5+ years' backend engineering experience building and maintaining production APIs
- Strong commercial experience developing RESTful APIs in Golang (this is essential)
- Experience designing scalable microservices and distributed systems
- Solid knowledge of API security, including OAuth2,



OpenID Connect and secure authentication patterns
- Commercial experience with MongoDB, Firestore or other NoSQL databases
- Experience working with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and modern CI/CD practices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions

Nice to have:

- Experience migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-native architectures
- Exposure to event-driven architecture, Terraform or API gateways
- Experience working alongside data engineering or automation teams
