About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a strategic review of Operational Technology (OT) applications across a complex manufacturing and production environment.
In this role, you will lead the discovery, assessment, and documentation of Operational Technology applications, developing a comprehensive understanding of the current application landscape, including application purpose, usage, ownership, criticality, integrations, and support models.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Lead the discovery, assessment, and documentation of all Operational Technology (OT) applications across the environment, ensuring a complete understanding of the existing application landscape.
- Engage with business, operational, plant, engineering, and technology stakeholders through workshops, interviews, and consultations to gather requirements, validate findings, and understand current application usage.
- Assess each application's purpose, functionality, business value, ownership, criticality, lifecycle, integrations, dependencies, usage patterns, and support model.
- Document current-state application landscapes, business processes, technology interfaces, data flows, and system dependencies.
- Analyse the application portfolio to identify duplicate systems, overlapping capabilities, legacy applications, technical debt, operational risks, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Evaluate opportunities for application rationalisation, consolidation, standardisation, retirement, replacement, or modernisation to improve operational efficiency and reduce complexity.
- Assess the business and technical impacts of proposed changes, including risks, costs, dependencies, and implementation considerations.
- Produce comprehensive current-state assessments and develop target-state roadmaps that align with business strategy and future technology direction.
- Develop executive reports, strategic recommendations, business cases, and presentation material to support technology investment and decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with architecture, engineering, operational, and technology teams to ensure recommendations align with enterprise architecture standards and long-term business objectives.
- Present findings and recommendations to project sponsors, leadership teams, and key stakeholders, providing clear,
actionable insights to support future Operational Technology initiatives.
Requirements and Experience
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst delivering application discovery, assessment, rationalisation, or technology transformation initiatives.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, production, mining, utilities, or other operational environments.
- Solid knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) applications and business-critical production systems.
- Experience assessing application portfolios, ownership, lifecycle, integrations, and support models.
- Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for application optimisation, consolidation, retirement, and modernisation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience producing executive reports, strategic recommendations, roadmaps, and business cases.
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to Operational Technology (OT), SCADA, MES, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Historians, or manufacturing technologies.
- Experience with Application Portfolio Management (APM), Enterprise Architecture, or Technology Governance.
- Knowledge of technology lifecycle management and application governance frameworks.
- Experience supporting digital transformation or technology modernisation programs.
