JOB DETAILS
Full‑time, Permanent, 35 hours per week.
$101,247.21 to $110,941.08 + Council Leaseback vehicle or vehicle allowance.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Liverpool City Council has an exciting opportunity for a self‑motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to be part of a dynamic team responsible for protecting, promoting and enhancing environmental health standards within the Liverpool Local Government area.
The successful applicant will undertake regulatory inspections under relevant environmental and public health legislation. Key functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Inspection of food premises, skin penetration premises, hairdressers, cooling towers, swimming and spa pools, on‑site sewage management systems.
- Environmental pollution investigations and public health complaints.
- Assessment of air, noise, contaminated land and wastewater reports.
ABOUT YOU:
The successful applicant will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Experience in the investigation, monitoring and inspection of premises to ensure compliance with public and environmental health standards.
- Understanding of the role and responsibilities of Local Government in relation to regulation of public and environmental health.
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation associated with environmental health,
including the Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and associated regulations.
- Understanding the purpose of and the ability to interpret and implement legislation.
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to successfully implement and conduct environmental health education programs.
