About This Opportunity

This Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is a permanent, full‑time (100%) role based at the St Lucia Campus. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Tim Miller to develop a joint Centre of Excellence in Data Science and AI with the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in Patiala, India, contributing to cross‑disciplinary research and teaching of AI.

Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver high‑quality research, establishing an independent, collaborative research program and pursuing competitive research funding.
- Provide high‑quality teaching through course development, curriculum enhancement, assessment, and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Supervise and mentor students and researchers, including Honours and Higher Degree by Research supervision.
- Build academic citizenship and engagement through partnerships across UQ, TIET, industry, and government.
- For Level C only: Lead strategic research programs, acquire significant competitive funding, translate research outcomes into broader impact, drive teaching excellence and innovation,



lead HDR supervision and staff development, and strengthen institutional impact through high‑level collaborations.

Qualifications

- Level B: PhD in data science, artificial intelligence, or equivalent experience; a growing research profile with publications in high‑quality venues; experience with applied, cross‑disciplinary projects; evidence of high‑quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level is desirable.
- Level C: All Level B criteria plus a growing international research profile, evidence of securing and managing external research funding, evidence of high‑quality teaching, and a solid record of supervising HDR students to successful completion.
