The Bomb Integrated Project Team (BIPT) Sustainment requires two experienced Level 3 Guided Weapons Engineers to provide specialist sustainment engineering support for Defence's expanding and increasingly complex bomb inventory.
Working under limited direction, the successful engineers will deliver explosive ordnance (EO) engineering outcomes across the sustainment lifecycle while operating within Defence engineering policy, legislative requirements and Engineering Authority (EA) governance.
Due to the increasing volume and complexity of sustainment activities, defect investigations, engineering governance obligations, configuration management activities and compliance requirements, Defence has identified the need for two dedicated engineering resources to ensure the continued safety, readiness and engineering assurance of the bomb capability.
Reporting to the BIPT Senior Engineer , the successful candidates will develop, review and deliver engineering artefacts, investigate technical issues, analyse engineering problems and provide specialist engineering advice supporting the ongoing sustainment of Air Force bomb capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver guided weapons and explosive ordnance sustainment engineering activities across the BIPT bomb inventory.
- Develop, review and maintain sustainment engineering documentation in accordance with Engineering Authority (EA) requirements.
- Produce engineering artefacts aligned with the Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Engineering Management Plan.
- Execute assigned engineering tasks within agreed schedules and project priorities.
- Investigate technical issues, engineering queries and Requests for Information (RFIs) from AIR1300 and other Defence stakeholders.
- Analyse engineering defects, technical issues and capability requirements, providing practical engineering recommendations.
- Prepare engineering documentation in accordance with the Defence Writing Manual and Defence engineering standards.
- Support engineering governance activities including configuration management, engineering assurance and technical compliance.
- Participate in fortnightly BIPT engineering meetings, weekly sustainment engineering forums and continuation training.
- Produce monthly engineering status reports and provide engineering updates to project leadership.
- Complete engineering tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to capability uplift and workforce development within the engineering team.
