An Australian-owned engineering and construction organisation is seeking a Senior Transmission Lines Engineer to join its growing Engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on some of Australia's most significant transmission infrastructure projects while collaborating with a highly experienced multidisciplinary engineering team.
Based in Adelaide or Melbourne, the position offers involvement across the full project lifecycle from concept design and engineering through to manufacturing support, installation, operation, maintenance, construction support and commissioning of overhead transmission line systems.
The Role
The Senior Transmission Lines Engineer will lead the engineering design and delivery of overhead transmission line projects up to 500kV while providing technical leadership across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee:
- Transmission line routing and optimisation
- Structure spotting
- Conductor selection
- Sag and tension modelling
- Clearance assessments
- Mechanical loading calculations
- Pole and lattice tower loading
- Temporary works engineering
- Material specifications
- Design reports
- Construction drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Provide technical support throughout detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
- Support bid and tender submissions through technical input and engineering estimates.
- Mentor graduate and developing engineers while promoting engineering best practice across project teams.
- Attend site inspections for various design requirements.
- Contribute to continual improvement initiatives and technical knowledge sharing.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant Australian Standards, utility requirements and internal quality management systems.
- Support commissioning activities and provide technical assistance for medium and high voltage systems where required.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Qualified Engineer (CPEng) or actively working towards chartership.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- National Engineering Register (NER).
- RPEQ and/or RPEV registration.
- White Card
Experience
- Minimum 7 years' experience in overhead transmission line engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in detailed design and construction support.
- Solid knowledge of Australian transmission utilities and renewable energy projects.
