Our Band-1 Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) practice offers a rewarding prospect for a junior lawyer based in Sydney. You will work closely with industry leading partner Nick Thomas and other senior practitioners in a high-performing, well-respected team focused on environment, planning and sustainability.
In this role you will handle a diverse range of matters including strategic and policy advice, major projects and transactions, litigation and dispute resolution. You will work under the mentorship of senior practitioners and develop your technical and client skills with a strong degree of autonomy.
Clients include Federal, State and local government agencies, ASX100 listed and multinational corporations.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and policy advice on environment and planning matters.
- Advisory and transactional work on major projects and land acquisitions.
- Represent clients in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Draft and negotiate documents and agreements.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, counsel, junior lawyers and other parties.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years PQE in a commercial law firm.
- Excellent academic results.
- Well-rounded experience in environment and planning practice, with exposure to transactional, advisory and litigious matters.
- Well-developed drafting skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative, proactive mindset and ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
