Summary

Our client MICA BROS PTY LTD is seeking to add Welder (First Class) to its specialist wrought iron and architectural metalwork team in Tullamarine, Victoria. The business delivers custom-made gates, staircases, balustrades, decorative ironwork and luxury home features, managing design, fabrication, finishing, delivery and installation in-house with a solid focus on precision, durability and craftsmanship.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions for custom wrought iron projects.
- Measure, mark and prepare steel components for fabrication and installation.
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel.
- Fabricate wrought iron gates, fences, balustrades, handrails and security doors.
- Cut, shape and form metal sections using appropriate tools and machinery.
- Align and assemble components using clamps, jigs and measuring instruments.
- Complete on-site measurements and modifications to ensure accurate final fitment.
- Inspect welds for strength, penetration, alignment, finish and overall quality.
- Grind, polish, smooth and finish welded joints to required standards.
- Apply safe work practices when handling tools, machinery and metal materials.
- Assist with professional delivery and installation of completed metalwork products.
- Coordinate with builders,



supervisors and clients during fabrication and installation stages.
- Maintain fabrication equipment, tools and work areas in safe operating condition.
- Follow Australian Standards, workplace procedures and WHS requirements at all times.
- Support high-quality workmanship across bespoke residential and architectural metalwork projects.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

- Certificate IV in Engineering or equivalent welding and fabrication qualification is required for this position.
- At least two years of relevant welding, fabrication or architectural metalwork experience is required.
- Demonstrated MIG and TIG welding experience across mild steel and stainless steel is required.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, technical specifications and fabrication instructions is essential.
- Experience fabricating and installing gates, balustrades, handrails or security doors is highly relevant.
- Strong site measuring, fitting, modification and installation skills are required for custom project work.
- Applicants must demonstrate sound WHS knowledge and safe handling of fabrication tools and machinery.
- High attention to detail and quality finishing skills are required for premium custom metalwork projects.
