About the role

Churchill Dental Studio is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team in Kilburn, SA 5084. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential support to our dental practitioners and ensuring exceptional patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will be instrumental in maintaining the smooth operation of our dental practice, assisting clinicians, and creating a welcoming environment for our patients. This role is perfect for someone looking for flexible work arrangements whilst making a meaningful contribution to oral healthcare delivery.

Key responsibilities

1. Assisting dentists during clinical procedures by preparing instruments, materials and equipment

2. Sterilising and maintaining dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols

3. Taking and processing dental radiographs (X-rays) under supervision

4. Recording patient treatment notes and updating patient records accurately

5. Greeting patients, managing patient flow and scheduling appointments

6. Providing chairside support during examinations and treatments

7. Maintaining a clean and organised dental surgery environment

8. Handling patient enquiries and responding to calls professionally

9. Assisting with stock management and ordering dental supplies as required

10. Supporting the practice team with administrative duties

What we're looking for

1. A relevant qualification such as a Dental Assistant Certificate or equivalent recognised qualification (or willingness to obtain one)

2. Experience working as a Dental Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role

3. Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and infection control practices

4. Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach

5. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment

Strong organisational and attention to detail skills

7. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with dental practice management software (desirable)

8. Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it

9. A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and following all healthcare regulations

10. Flexibility to accommodate the casual nature of the position with variable scheduling

11. Candidates must have current Australian work authorisation at the time of application
