Sunshine Coast Neurosurgery is a up-to-date specialist neurosurgical practice located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Health Precinct. We are committed to providing exceptional patient care in a professional, supportive, and patient-focused environment.
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse (Practice Nurse) to join our growing team on a permanent part-time basis (17–25 hours per week). This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a respected Neurosurgeon in a varied, autonomous and rewarding specialist practice.
About the Role
This collaborative clinical role offers the opportunity to work closely alongside the Neurosurgeon, providing comprehensive care to patients throughout their surgical journey. Responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with the Neurosurgeon to conduct patient consultations, provide clinical assessments and coordinate patient care
- Pre-operative patient education and assessments
- Post-operative wound reviews and wound management
- Telephone triage and patient follow-up
- Clinical assessment and monitoring of post-operative patients
- Coordinating patient care throughout the surgical journey
- Providing education and support to patients and their families
- Participating in GP education evenings, patient information sessions and other practice education initiatives
- Assisting with the development and implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives
- Working collaboratively with allied health professionals and the administration team
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation using Genie medical software
- Delivering a high standard of patient-centred care
About You
The successful applicant will possess:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse
- Previous experience in specialist practice, surgical, perioperative, orthopaedic or neurosurgical nursing (highly regarded)
- Excellent wound management and clinical assessment skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- A proactive, compassionate and patient-focused approach
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a close-knit multidisciplinary team
What We Offer
- Permanent part-time position (17–25 hours per week)
- Competitive hourly rates based on experience:
- Practice Nurse: $45–$55 per hour
- Nurse Practitioner: $75–$85 per hour
- Monday to Friday hours – no shift work, weekends or public holidays
