Summary

Our client VD Safety Systems, based in Enfield, South Australia, is seeking to add a Fire Protection Equipment Technician to support the installation, testing and maintenance of essential fire protection equipment and safety systems. The role will assist with reliable inspection, servicing and compliance-related work across fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, blankets, exit lighting and associated fire safety equipment.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Install and service portable fire extinguishers across commercial and industrial client sites.
- Inspect and maintain fire hose reels, hydrants and fire blankets.
- Test exit lighting and emergency safety equipment in accordance with requirements.
- Complete routine maintenance checks on fire protection equipment and systems.
- Identify defects, faults or non-compliant equipment during scheduled service visits.
- Prepare accurate service reports, inspection records and maintenance documentation.
- Replace, recharge or repair fire extinguishers and related safety equipment.
- Assist with passive fire and smoke containment system inspection tasks.
- Maintain safe work practices while operating at client premises and worksites.
- Use appropriate tools, testing equipment and safety procedures for each task.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding service findings and required follow-up work.
- Ensure work is completed in line with relevant fire safety standards.
- Maintain vehicle stock, equipment, labels,



tags and service materials.
- Advise building owners about new fire protection equipment and systems as per industry standard.
- Support scheduled servicing programmes and urgent repair or maintenance requests .
- Capacity to work independently across client locations while maintaining safe, industry standard and professional work practices.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV or at least three years of relevant experience.
- Ability to inspect, service and maintain extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants and related equipment.
- Sound understanding of fire safety procedures, compliance requirements and accurate service documentation practices.
- Practical ability to identify equipment faults, defects and maintenance requirements during site inspections.
- Capacity to work independently to industry standards across client locations while maintaining protected and professional work practices.
- Good communication skills to explain service findings, required repairs and maintenance outcomes to clients.
- Current driver licence and willingness to travel to different commercial and industrial worksites as required.
- Ability to use relevant tools, testing equipment, labels and service materials accurately and safely.
