Role
Unicorn Transport Equipment is seeking a motivated and reliable Trades Assistant – Painter to join our Paint Department.
Working alongside our experienced Spray Painters, you will play a vital role in ensuring all tray bodies and components are prepared to the highest standard before painting. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in quality, and works well as part of a team.
Daily Responsibilities
- Preparing steel and aluminium tray bodies and components for painting.
- Sanding, grinding and cleaning surfaces to ensure they are paint-ready.
- Filling, masking and priming components prior to paint application.
- Washing and degreasing parts using the correct preparation methods.
- Assisting Spray Painters with moving products through the paint process.
- Hanging, removing and handling components safely throughout production.
- Conducting quality checks to ensure preparation meets company standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area.
- Operating forklifts to move materials and finished products (where licensed).
- Following workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assisting with general duties within the Paint Department as required
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in Industrial Painting
- Excellent attention to detail
- Previous experience using single, dual pack and enamel paints.
- Ability to prep raw steel vehicle bodies.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Forklift License is required
- Full working rights in Australia with no restrictions.
