You'll care for Launceston's parks, gardens and green open spaces, working hands on in the City of Launceston's Nursery and Conservatory to keep them thriving. From coordinating conservatory displays to propagating nursery stock and protecting it against pests and disease, your horticultural know how will directly shape how our city looks and feels.
You'll work alongside a close knit Greenspace and Precinct Services team who take pride in getting the details right, and who back each other in reporting hazards, sharing ideas and doing the job safely. It's practical, outdoor work that makes a visible difference every day, right in the heart of the city.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Maintain healthy nursery stock and coordinate seasonal displays in the City Park Conservatory
- Carry out hands on horticultural maintenance, from mowing and pruning to planting and irrigation
- Identify and manage plant pests, diseases and disorders using safe, approved treatment methods
- Support Launceston's tree planting programme to grow the city's canopy
- Operate and maintain specialised horticultural machinery, tools and irrigation systems safely
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

- Safety focused, taking responsibility for your own wellbeing and your team's
- A collaborative team player across the nursery, conservatory and wider Greenspace team
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant health, including identifying and managing pests, diseases and plant disorders
- Certificate III in Horticulture, ChemCert accreditation, a General Construction Induction (White Card) and First Aid accreditation, plus a current Class C driver's licence
