Happy Painters is seeking two enthusiastic and creative After-School Art Teachers to join our team for Term 1, 2027.

These temporary positions are ideal for university students studying Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, Graphic Design, or a related creative discipline who are passionate about inspiring young people through art.

About Happy Painters

Happy Painters is an established after-school art program that encourages creativity, confidence and artistic growth in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment. Our classes cater for students aged 5 to 17 years, providing opportunities for young artists of all abilities to develop their skills and express their creativity.

About the Role

As an After-School Art Teacher, you will facilitate engaging art classes that encourage students to experiment, learn new techniques and build confidence in their artistic ability.

You will be responsible for preparing and delivering lessons, demonstrating artistic techniques, supporting students of varying ages and abilities, and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels encouraged to succeed.

Employment Type: Temporary Casual

Duration: Term 1, 2027

Location: Ballajura, WA

Weekly Teaching Schedule

- Monday: 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
- Tuesday: 3:15 pm – 6:45 pm
- Wednesday: 3:15 pm – 6:45 pm
- Thursday: 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

We are seeking two teachers to share the above timetable. Each successful applicant will be allocated set teaching day(s) for the duration of Term 1. One teacher may be allocated two or three afternoons per week, while the second teacher will be allocated the remaining day(s). Once allocated, teachers are expected to commit to their scheduled days for the entirety of the term.

Key Responsibilities





- Deliver engaging and age-appropriate art lessons for students aged 5–17 years.
- Demonstrate a variety of artistic techniques and mediums.
- Encourage creativity, confidence and individual expression.
- Support students with varying ages, abilities and experience.
- Prepare and organise classroom materials and resources.
- Set up and pack away classrooms before and after classes.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents and fellow staff members.

About You The successful applicant will:
- Be currently studying, or have recently completed, a qualification in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, Graphic Design or a related field.
- Have a genuine passion for art and creativity.
- Enjoy working with children and young people.
- Be confident leading and engaging small groups of students.
- Be organised, reliable, enthusiastic and professional.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience teaching, tutoring, coaching or working with children is desirable, but not essential.

Essential Requirements

- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement).
- Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
- Reliable transport.
