Role details The Division of Women's and Children's Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for an Assistant Director of Midwifery and Nursing to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your chance The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing/midwifery care as specified by registration requirements, NMBA standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation and context of care and advanced clinical management and/or a specified portfolio expertise.
The ADON takes responsibility for the overall planning, coordination, formulation and direction of policies relating to the provision of clinical care, as well as for the efficient and effective use of human and material resources in a specific area within a dynamic health environment.
Classification may include but is not limited to:
- Working within an expansive and/or complex health service setting
- Working within a large facility/service/area
- Responsibility for cohort of staff directly reporting
- Working in geographically diverse environment/s and complex population demographics
- Consultation and provision of advice on health policy and strategy impacting on the profession
- Development,
coordination or operational management of a designated service improvement and/or service portfolio.
About the Team The Division of Women's and Children's Services encompasses inpatient and outpatient care for the; Obstetrics & Gynaecology ward and unit, Continuity of Care Midwifery (including group practice), Paediatrics ward and unit, Sexual Health community services, Child Protective Unit, Child and Youth Family Health and Breast Screen Queensland services. The division works collaboratively and with a multidisciplinary approach to routine and complex models of care for women and children in the Mackay HHS catchment.
