Corporate Affairs
Australia is one of Australia’s leading corporate affairs consultancies, supporting the responsible development and operation of Australia’s resources and energy sector. We work with many of Australia’s most significant projects and companies, helping them navigate complex policy, approvals, stakeholder and reputation challenges. We are now seeking an exceptional Associate Director to establish and grow our presence in Canberra.
This is a newly created role and a rare opportunity for someone with deep Commonwealth Government networks to establish Corporate Affairs Australia’s Canberra presence. As our first Canberra-based team member, you will enjoy the autonomy to build relationships, identify opportunities and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients, while working closely with our leadership team.
About the role As our inaugural Canberra-based Associate Director, you will be responsible for strengthening Corporate Affairs Australia’s Commonwealth Government engagement capability and supporting clients to engage effectively with Ministers, Parliament, departments, agencies and other key national stakeholders. You will work across a portfolio of Australia’s most significant resources, energy and infrastructure projects, providing strategic advice, developing engagement strategies and helping clients navigate Commonwealth Government policy, regulatory and stakeholder environments. This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working independently, takes initiative and is comfortable managing their own priorities.
While you’ll be supported by an experienced national team, you’ll have significant autonomy to develop relationships, manage your workload and contribute to the growth of the business.
We offer genuine flexibility, including hybrid working arrangements. This is a senior client-facing role with significant prospect to shape the future growth of our business. About you We welcome candidates from a range of corporate and government backgrounds. We are most interested in the relationships, judgement and credibility you’ve built throughout your career.
You will ideally bring: Strong existing networks across the Commonwealth Government, including Ministers’ offices, departments, agencies and key stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in government relations, public policy, ministerial advisory, political offices or strategic communications.
Excellent strategic thinking, writing and communication skills.
Self-motivated, comfortable working independently and able to remain connected with a national team.
The ability to identify opportunities, build trusted client relationships and provide high-quality strategic advice.
A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with colleagues across Australia.
An understanding of Australia’s resources and energy sectors and the policy issues affecting them.
Highly regarded, but not essential: Experience working with the resources, energy or major projects sectors.
Familiarity with Western Australia’s and/or Queensland’s political, regulatory or industry landscape.
Experience working in consulting or advising corporate clients.
