The Opportunity We now have an exciting opportunity for a Bioinformatics DataEngineer to join our Indigenous Genomics Multiomics Team to support thedevelopment of Indigenous data systems aimed at facilitating the deployment ofmultiomics risk scores for use in large-scale precision health initiatives forIndigenous Australians. This role will be primarily dedicated to applyingdisease risk score methodology, as well as building and maintaining the datainfrastructure required to integrate genomics, multiomics and clinical datafrom large longitudinal cohort studies. Working closely with the Chief Data Scientist and other members ofthe Indigenous Genomics Multiomics Team, you will design scalable, reproducibleworkflows for data ingestion, harmonisation, quality control and risk scorecalculation, helping to translate complex multiomics datasets into reliable,well-governed, translational tools for disease risk prediction research.

Key responsibilities - Design, build and maintain robust, reproducible data frameworks that integrate genomic, multiomics and clinical data for disease risk score development.

- Develop and operate data ingestion, harmonisation and storage solutions in high-performance computing and/or cloud environments.
- Implement version-controlled, automated workflows for calculating and validating disease risk scores across large cohorts.
- Aid in the development of novel data governance systems designed to store Indigenous healthcare datasets.
- Use R, Python and/or SQL for data analysis, validation, visualisation and reporting of risk score performance. This role may be based in our offices within Perth Children’sHospital in Nedlands, or in our Adelaide Office. Flexible working arrangementswill be considered.

About You The successful candidate will hold a Postgraduate qualification inBioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry,



Data Science or a relatedfield (PhD or demonstrated equivalent professional experience is stronglypreferred). You will be collaborative, team-oriented and will demonstrate:

- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines for genomic, multiomics or other large-scale biomedical datasets.
- Experience working in a high-performance computing and/or cloud computing environment.
- Programming skills in one or more of Python, R, SQL, and at least one of C/C++, Go, Rust or Java.
- Understanding of database design and management for research data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and priorities.
