We are working with a large multidiscipline design consultancy that continue to grow. They're looking for an experienced BMS Engineer to join our Sydney team and play a key role in delivering intelligent building solutions across commercial, healthcare, industrial and mission-critical data centre projects.
If you're passionate about smart buildings, automation and delivering high-performance environments, we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Working alongside the Building Services and Sustainability teams, you'll be responsible for the design, coordination and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS) on a diverse range of projects, with a particular focus on complex and mission-critical facilities.
You'll have the chance to work directly with clients, consultants and contractors while helping deliver reliable, energy-efficient and future-ready building automation solutions.
The role and responsibilities:
- Develop BMS design documentation: control logic (Sequence of Operations), I/O schedules, control panel layouts, network architecture, integration with HVAC/chillers/CRAH/CRAC, generators/UPS if relevant, fire/life-safety, security, lighting and other building services.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and other services design teams to coordinate BMS scope in multi-discipline projects.
- Commissioning of BMS systems — including installation oversight, configuration of controllers (DDC/PLC),
SCADA or BMS platform configuration, wiring/network testing, point-to-point checks, validation testing, system commissioning, and hand-over documentation.
- Undertake fault-finding, diagnostics, troubleshooting during commissioning or early operation, and provide timely technical solutions and adjustments to ensure system stability and compliance.
- Provide support during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), integrated systems testing; prepare red-line markups and as-built documentation for handover.
- Ensure BMS design and configuration comply with relevant codes, standards, safety and data-centre / critical-environment requirements (e.g. redundancy, reliability, uptime, environmental controls). (Given data-centre focus
- Work closely with clients and stakeholders (consultants, contractors, facility managers) to understand requirements, provide technical advice, and deliver tailored BMS solutions.
- Contribute to energy efficiency, sustainability, and building performance objectives — using BMS capabilities to optimise HVAC, lighting, energy usage, and environmental monitoring where appropriate.
- Support project management aspects of BMS scope: scheduling, coordination with other trades, managing design changes, ensuring quality deliverables, and timely delivery
