We are interviewing candidates for a Technical Co-Founder / CTO Candidate position.

This is a core founding-team role for someone who wants meaningful ownership, responsibility and long-term involvement in building a medical technology company.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Founder and CEO to lead Nexev’s technical strategy and execution across artificial intelligence, software architecture, clinical data systems and connected medical-device development.

This is not a narrow coding position. We are looking for someone who can identify technical priorities, challenge decisions, conduct experiments, solve difficult problems and progressively take ownership of the technical company.

Key Responsibilities include

- Strengthen and validate the intradialytic hypotension prediction model
- Own model deployment, versioning, testing and reproducibility
- Lead backend, API, database, cloud and cybersecurity architecture
- Ensure alignment between model outputs, backend services,

stored data and the user interface
- Support integration of the blood-pressure module, Raspberry Pi and connected-device workflow
- Design safe handling for missing data, device failure, model failure and offline operation
- Contribute to technical risk management, quality documentation and regulatory preparation
- Recruit, supervise and review technical contributors
- Participate in selected clinician, hospital, investor, product and regulatory meetings
- Translate clinical requirements into reliable technical systems
- Help build Nexev toward hospital validation, investment and commercial deployment

We are particularly interested in current postgraduate students, recent graduates and early-career technical leaders based in Sydney.

Relevant backgrounds may include

- Artificial intelligence or machine learning
- Computer science or software engineering
- Biomedical engineering
- Medical-device engineering
- Physiological signal processing
- Embedded systems, IoT or mechatronics
- Data science or health informatics
- Backend, cloud or clinical-data architecture

A PhD, MPhil or Master’s degree is highly regarded. Strong undergraduate candidates with substantial technical, startup or product-development experience will also be considered. Core Value of the Role :
- Strong ownership mentality
- Reliable communication
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to investigate problems without waiting for every task
- Evidence of shipping complete systems

- Comfort working under uncertainty
- Genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly
- Willingness to attend key meetings and represent the technical direction
- Long-term ambition to build Nexev into a significant medical technology company

The expected initial commitment is at least 20 hours per week, distributed consistently across the week. The candidate should be able to:
- Maintain regular communication
- Provide clear progress updates
- Attend scheduled technical meetings
- Take ownership of agreed workstreams
- Increase involvement as the company progresses
- Consider transitioning into a full-time technical leadership role after funding

Nexev primarily works across Campbelltown, Lidcombe and Parramatta, depending on the project. Some work can be completed remotely, although regular in-person collaboration in Sydney is strongly preferred. The role includes meaningful co-founder equity, subject to:
- A founder trial period
- Demonstrated technical performance
- Sustained commitment
- Long-term alignment
- Formal vesting and cliff arrangements
- Intellectual-property and confidentiality agreements

There is a pathway to a paid full-time CTO position following sufficient funding, subject to company circumstances and mutual agreement. The CTO title and final equity allocation will be earned through demonstrated contribution and working alignment.

Selection Process The process may include:

- Initial founder interview
- Technical and commitment discussion
- Review of previous work or projects
- A short practical technical assessment
- A founder trial involving a real Nexev workstream
- Final discussion regarding title, responsibilities, equity and vesting
