About Us
The City of Marion is located in Adelaide's south-western suburbs, just 10 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD. As one of South Australia's largest councils, our Civil Services team is responsible for maintaining and improving a diverse network of civil infrastructure that supports our growing community. This includes roads, footpaths, drainage systems, kerbing, and associated civil assets.
To support an expanded service delivery model and strengthen the management of our contracted maintenance programs, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Contracts Coordinator to join our team in this newly created permanent position.
About the Role
Reporting to the Unit Manager Civil Services, the Civil Contracts Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating Council's civil maintenance contracts to ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective, and customer-focused service delivery. You will oversee a diverse portfolio of ongoing civil maintenance contracts, working closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate works, monitor contractor performance, manage contract administration, and ensure service standards are achieved. The role also supports procurement activities, undertakes site inspections and quality audits, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance contractor performance and service delivery.
Success in this role will be built on your ability to develop strong working relationships, effectively manage competing priorities, and ensure contracted works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards.
About You
You are an organised and collaborative professional with excellent communication and problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering quality service outcomes. To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience managing civil maintenance or infrastructure contracts, including monitoring contractor performance against KPIs, service standards, and contractual requirements.
- Sound knowledge of civil assets, including roads, drainage, kerbing, and footpaths, together with relevant maintenance practices, standards, and specifications.
- A strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS), environmental, and legislative compliance requirements relevant to civil maintenance activities.
- Proven ability to coordinate operational works programs and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and budget parameters.
- Demonstrated experience in contract administration, procurement processes, and contractor management.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and resolve operational issues.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, analyse, and report on asset, operational, and contract data.
- Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience working within local government, delivering small to medium civil infrastructure or maintenance projects, and using asset management, maintenance management, and GIS systems (such as Assetic and ESRI) will be highly regarded. Knowledge of local government procurement and contract management practices will also be advantageous. Please note, you must hold a current, unrestricted South Australian Driver's Licence and a valid White Card.
