Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Clinical Midwife Consultant to join the Women's & Children's department.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Clinical Midwife Consultant to join our ever-growing team in the Women's and Children's Division.
About the Role:
The Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) is a highly skilled and experienced senior midwife who provides advanced clinical leadership within Northern Health's maternity services. As a recognised clinical expert, the CMC plays a pivotal role in strengthening clinical governance and ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based, woman-centred care that is aligned with contemporary best practice and organisational priorities.
Working in partnership with Midwifery Unit Managers, the CMC provides expert clinical consultation, leadership and oversight across the continuum of maternity care. The role supports the consistent application of skilled standards, clinical guidelines and organisational policies, while fostering a culture of excellence through mentorship, coaching, education and professional development of staff.
A key focus of the position is driving quality and safety initiatives across the service.
The CMC contributes to the planning,
implementation and evaluation of clinical governance activities, including audit and quality improvement programs, monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators, policy and guideline development, incident management and review processes, and the implementation of risk mitigation strategies. Through effective leadership, collaboration and change management, the CMC supports service innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring maternity services remain responsive to the needs of women, babies, families and the broader community.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate midwife to influence clinical practice, lead service development initiatives and contribute to the ongoing advancement of maternity care at Northern Health.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current qualifications and registration with AHPRA as either a Registered Nurse/Midwife or Registered Midwife.
- Minimum 5 years' experience post registration
- Current FSEP Level 3
- Ability to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate care delivery needs of patients
- Extensive knowledge with policy & procedure work
- An ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Sound computer literacy and documentation skills
