Join Tame Engineering as a Communications Technician
Immediate Start Available Tame Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Communications Technician to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a range of mining communication and operational technology systems while enjoying a balanced FIFO 8:6 roster.
LOCATION: FIFO from Perth
ROSTER: 8:6 Day Shift Only
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent Full-Time

About the Role
As a Communications Technician with Tame Engineering, you will be responsible for the installation, support, and maintenance of critical mining communication systems, operational technologies, and infrastructure across mining operations. You will play a key role in ensuring reliable connectivity, system performance, and operational efficiency throughout site.
Key responsibilities include
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining communication infrastructure including Fibre Optic and structured cabling.
- Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CCTV systems, including fixed IP and PTZ camera networks.
- Deploying and maintaining repeaters, telemetry systems, battery banks, and solar-powered communications infrastructure.
- Responding to communication outages, performing root cause analysis, and maintaining accurate maintenance and fault records.
- Ensuring communication systems meet operational, safety, and compliance requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Trade qualification in Communications, Electronics, Electrotechnology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Current WA Class C Driver's Licence.
- ACMA-endorsed structured cabling licence (including fibre).
- Experience working with mining communication systems and operational technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities.
- The ability to work autonomously and safely within a mining environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Understanding of two-way radio systems, IP networking, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi networks, and communication backhaul technologies.
- Previous experience supporting communication systems within mining or heavy industry environments.
