We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Data Science Manager (Credit Risk & Growth) to join our Data & Analytics team.
This is a key leadership role suited to an experienced people leader or senior technical specialist with a strong track record of delivering complex initiatives, mentoring others and influencing outcomes. While credit risk will be a primary focus, the role also offers the opportunity to shape and deliver broader data science initiatives across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Data & Analytics, you will lead a high-performing team of data scientists and credit risk modelling specialists, providing strategic direction, technical leadership, and fostering a collaborative, curious and commercially focused culture.
You will shape and deliver data science solutions that improve credit decisioning, portfolio performance and customer outcomes, while ensuring models remain robust, well-governed and fit for purpose.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of data scientists, fostering engagement, collaboration and continuous capability development.
- Execute the data science strategy, aligning priorities with business objectives and leading the delivery of high-quality solutions that drive measurable business value.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain credit application scorecards, decisioning models, and ECL (Expected Credit Loss) PD / EAD / LGD models.
- Oversee the end-to-end model lifecycle, from development and deployment through to monitoring and optimisation, while ensuring robust governance and responsible model management practices.
- Partner with stakeholders across Risk, Operations and Technology to identify opportunities,
prioritise initiatives and deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear insights, recommendations and actions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Your Attributes, Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years in data science, credit risk analytics or quantitative modelling, including experience in credit risk modelling, and econometric modelling methodologies such as IFRS 9.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Experience developing, deploying and monitoring models in cloud-based environments, with AWS experience highly regarded.
- Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders, translate complex business challenges into practical analytical solutions, and influence decision-making through data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Understanding of model governance, model risk management and responsible data practices within a regulated environment.
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, balancing strategic priorities with changing business needs.
