About the Centres of Excellence (CoE)

The TAFE NSW Centres of Excellence bring together the Construction Centre of Excellence, the Manufacturing Centres of Excellence, and the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) Digital, a National Centre of Excellence, to support industry-led innovation, workforce development and skills excellence across priority sectors.

Through partnerships with industry, government, training providers and higher education institutions, the Centres develop and deliver industry-aligned education, applied research, and innovative workforce solutions that respond to current and emerging skills needs. About the Role

While the Centres of Excellence collectively support the manufacturing, construction and digital sectors, this role is focused on supporting the Construction Centre of Excellence and the Institute of Applied Technology Digital through the provision of data reporting, performance analytics and strategic insights. By delivering evidence-based analysis and actionable intelligence, the role contributes to informed decision-making, continuous improvement, program evaluation and the measurement of outcomes across these Centres.

As a Data Scientist, you will partner with delivery teams and education reporting coordinators to collect,



analyse and transform complex data into meaningful insights that support course development, quality improvement and strategic decision-making across TAFE NSW. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will apply advanced analytics, predictive modelling and data visualisation techniques to address business challenges, enhance reporting capabilities and drive evidence-based outcomes.

In this role, you will identify gaps in data collection, reporting and performance measurement, recommending new metrics, data sources and analytical approaches to strengthen organisational decision-making. You will also design, develop and deliver consolidated, validated and actionable reports and insights for the Digital and Construction Centres of Excellence, ensuring stakeholders have access to reliable data that supports planning, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a curious and analytical professional who enjoys solving complex problems and uncovering opportunities through data. You have experience applying data science and analytics in a large or complex environment, along with the communication skills to translate technical findings into practical recommendations. Team-oriented, adaptable and outcome-focused, you can build strong stakeholder relationships, challenge existing thinking, and identify new ways data can be used to improve performance and decision-making.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Degree in a relevant discipline OR equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in applying data science, advanced analytics and visualisation within a large and complex organisation.
