About the role

We're seeking two friendly, motivated casual Dental Assistants to join our Mermaid Beach practice.

One role sits chairside with Dr Craig, working consistent weekday hours: full days Monday to Thursday, wrapping up early on Friday with consistent school holidays off.

The other is an all-rounder position, moving between dental assisting, reception and sterilisation. Hours vary week to week, with room to build towards full time hours and the possibility of a full-time role down the track for the right person.

Both roles suit someone looking to start or build a career in dental. Following probation, there's the opportunity to begin a Dental Assisting traineeship, fully supported by Coastal Dental Care.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures
- Preparing treatment rooms, instruments and materials
- Supporting sterilisation and reprocessing in line with infection prevention and control standards
- Welcoming, comforting and supporting patients throughout their visit
- Maintaining clean, organised and well-stocked clinical areas
- All-rounder role: patient check-in, appointment scheduling and phone enquiries at reception
- Assisting with basic administrative tasks as required




- What we’re looking for
- A genuine interest in building a career in the dental industry
- Some experience or knowledge of infection prevention and control (healthcare, dental or similar)
- A caring, professional and patient-focused approach
- Strong reliability, attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Up-to-date immunisations, or willingness to obtain them
- All-rounder role: comfortable juggling reception duties alongside clinical work

Preferred

- Previous dental or healthcare experience
- Interest in completing a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (traineeship)
- Confidence working as part of a close-knit, fast-paced team
- Reception or customer service experience (all-rounder role)
- Above-award pay, with traineeship support available
- Consistent Monday to Friday hours for the Dr Craig role, with early Friday finishes
- Flexible casual hours for the all-rounder role, with room to grow towards full-time
