Position

Overview

The Deputy Lead Verification and Validation (V&V;) Engineer supports the leadership, coordination, and delivery of V&V; activities across HDA’s business units while independently managing assigned tasks. The role works closely with the Project V&V; Lead and liaises with HDA speciality cells to ensure V&V; activities are properly planned, fully resourced, and effectively executed.

Lead helps maintain alignment across engineering and technical teams and contributes to consistent, high quality V&V; outcomes.

Primary

Duties

Coordinate V&V; planning across projects, ensuring activities are clearly defined and aligned through regular engagement with HDA speciality cells.

Write and/or review V&V; CDRLs for on time delivery to the customer (including V&V; Plans, VCRM, ATPROCs, ATRs), ensuring consistency across project teams and speciality cell inputs.

Provide V&V; input into project deliverables and support cross functional integration by liaising with speciality cells and engineering disciplines.

Compile relevant documentation and lead Test Readiness Reviews with the customer, ensuring readiness criteria are met and speciality cell contributions are incorporated.

Oversee and assist in ensuring the on-time execution of all V&V; activities, coordinating resources and resolving constraints in collaboration with speciality cells.

Lead customer facing V&V; activities when required,



representing the V&V; function professionally and ensuring clear communication of progress and outcomes.

Work with engineering, project teams, and speciality cells to investigate and resolve failures or issues identified during V&V; activities in a timely and coordinated manner.

Ensure safe engineering practices and System Safety requirements are implemented in all V&V; activities.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders—including speciality cells—to deliver successful V&V; outcomes.

Other duties as required by the supervisor.

Note: The Deputy Lead V&V; Engineer will be required to travel to subcontractor and test locations which may be within Victoria, Interstate and Internationally. Qualifications:

Mandatory

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Science discipline.

Desirable

Qualifications in Verification and Validation.

Meets Engineers Australia criteria for Chartered Professional Engineer.

Experience: Professional experience in V&V; activities, desirable in the defence industry delivering complex large-scale programs.

Knowledge with military standards and regulations related to vehicle development is desirable.

Skills and Key Attributes: Strong knowledge of V&V; principles, methodologies, and best practices. Proficiency in system requirements analysis, test design, test execution, and test reporting.





Proven ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders.

Meticulous approach to work, with the ability to identify potential risks and issues proactively. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fastpaced setting. Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality.

Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrates adaptability and can be flexible to meet the needs of the organisation and other team members.

Flexible and adaptability, as you'll be expected to quickly pivot and respond to changing priorities and dynamic work environments. Eligibility To be successful in this role, you will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security clearance up to NV1 (must be an Australian Citizen).
