About the Role

Latitude Recruitment is seeking a hands-on and proactive Dry Mill Senior Operator for a well-established timber operation in Wandilo. If you're an experienced operator with a passion for safety, quality, and leadership, this could be the role for you. You'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Dry Mill, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met while providing day-to-day guidance and mentorship to a small team, working closely with the Operations Manager and maintenance personnel to support smooth and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate the Dry Mill in line with daily production requirements and work orders, maintaining accurate production records
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and schedules are met, addressing issues promptly
- Set production in line with customer orders and available stock
- Oversee end-of-day shutdown, machinery operation, and quality control
- Perform and record daily pre-start checks and routine maintenance on machinery
- Identify and escalate equipment faults, and assist with repairs and preventative maintenance
- Provide on-the-job guidance, coaching, and support to Dry Mill operators (team of approximately 3 employees)
- Support training and development of team members to build skills and capability
- Promote and enforce safe work practices,



maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Communicate production issues, equipment faults, or quality concerns to the Operations Manager
- Operate forklifts and other mobile plant safely

About You

- Trade, technical, or significant hands-on experience in Dry Mill processing or a similar production environment (Essential)
- Strong understanding of machinery, pneumatics, engineering, and production processes (Essential)
- Forklift Licence and Motor Vehicle Licence (Essential)
- First Aid Qualification (Essential) — Mental Health First Aid (Desirable)
- Leadership or management qualifications or training (Desirable)
- Demonstrated safety leadership and commitment to responsible operations
- Practical, solutions-focused, and able to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Fit for work and able to carry out physical tasks safely
- Willingness to work outside normal hours when required
