We are currently seeking an experienced, energetic and driven individual to join our operations team as Second In Charge (2IC) to assist with the day to day operations in our Dry Mill department. This position is based at our Colac operation on a day shift roster and will play an integral role in ensuring our people, their safety and continuous improvement of our product and processes are met. With a positive and mature attitude, the successful candidate will lead daily activities with a focus on our employees. The 2IC will be coordinating people and equipment to achieve high levels of safety, performance, equipment utilisation and quality.

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the supervisor to ensure employees strictly adhere to AKD’s safety standards and policies,



supervise a team of approximately 40 production staff and ensure production targets are met. The 2IC also involves performing supervisory duties in conjunction with the dry mill supervisor and acts as supervisor in their absence.

It is preferred the applicants have previous experience in developing and leading high performing teams and an unrelenting commitment to safety. Having worked in a similar timber process manufacturing facility or industrial manufacturing environment is desired but not mandatory.

Essential skills and experience for the position:

- Highly developed understanding of OH&S; and safety standards and policies
- Proven leadership skills and experience in developing high performing teams
- Proven ability of developing key professional relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Robust computer skills – including word & excel
- Strong commitment and desire to learn and achieve
- Act autonomously
