The business is seeking a full time Electrical Protection Engineer.
The Electrical Protection Engineer provides technical leadership to the protection design function, ensuring network protection systems are safe, reliable and effective in safeguarding assets, workers and the public. This role leads the development, review and implementation of protection schemes across the electricity network, while mentoring engineers and supporting critical projects that enable the safe and reliable operation of the power system. The role may involve travel to different sites in Australia.
Salary offered is $165,000 - $175,000pa plus super.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of protection designs and settings in line with project schedules
- Review, design and maintain protection and control schemes across the network
- Provide expert technical advice on protection systems, relay configurations and investigations
- Mentor and develop engineers to maintain strong technical capability in the team
- Conduct technical investigations into equipment performance and protection events
- Manage protection setting configurations
- Liaise with client stakeholders
- Support generator and customer connection assessments from a protection perspective
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of client protection standards
- Provide protection input into network planning and infrastructure projects
Qualifications and Licences
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or registration in NSW as a Professional Engineer (Electrical)
Skills and Experience The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in power system protection, supported by demonstrated experience leading technical outcomes in a complex operational or infrastructure environment.
