Shangri-La Sydney is seeking a passionate, driven, and experienced Events Manager to join our award-winning team. As a key member of the Events team, you will be responsible for driving, securing, and managing a diverse portfolio of social events, including weddings, charity galas, school formals, product launches, private celebrations, and external catering functions.

From initial enquiry through to successful execution, you will oversee every stage of the event journey, ensuring exceptional service and memorable experiences that reflect the Shangri-La luxury brand.

Key Responsibilities Execute the catering sales action plan for designated social event market segments in line with the hotel's marketing strategy.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their primary point of contact throughout the event planning process.

Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities across weddings, social celebrations, corporate launches, and special events.

Monitor account performance, revenue, and event production to achieve and exceed sales targets.

Maximise revenue through strategic upselling and cross-selling opportunities while adhering to hotel guidelines and best practices.

Take ownership of personal sales objectives and contribute to the overall success of the Events team.

Collaborate closely with the Director of Events Management to optimise function space utilisation and drive catering revenue.

Support hotel promotional campaigns, showcases, and networking events to enhance business opportunities.

Coordinate event details seamlessly across operational departments to ensure flawless event delivery.





Maintain a strong on-site presence at the commencement of events, ensuring client satisfaction and operational excellence.

Develop comprehensive knowledge of all function spaces, catering offerings, hotel facilities, and services.

Stay informed of daily hotel activities, group movements, conferences, and special events to support operational efficiency.

About You

Proven experience within a hotel, events, banquet, restaurant, or hospitality environment.

Previous experience in a similar Events Manager role, or a high-performing Events Executive/Sales Executive ready to take the next step.

Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments in a rapid-paced environment.

Proficiency in Opera, Delphi, Micros, database management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.Hospitality Certificate, Diploma, or relevant qualification preferred.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
