Looking to start a meaningful career in horticulture while making a real difference in your community? Rockhampton Regional Council is offering a unique opportunity to join our team as aGardener Trainee, working across Council’s cemeteries.
In this full-time,12 month, Fixed Term Full Time traineeship, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in horticultural maintenance and cemetery operations, while studying towards aCertificate II in Horticulture and gaining your Excavator ticket . You’ll be supported by experienced mentors and work in a respectful, team‑oriented workplace that values professionalism and care.
Beyond the practical skills and qualifications, this role offers the unique opportunity to contribute to a space of reflection and remembrance. By helping to maintain and beautify our cemeteries, you’ll be providing comfort and dignity to families and individuals navigating grief, making a meaningful difference for our community.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

Assessment & Selection Period

To be eligible for this role, applicants must be
- Aged 15 years or older and no longer at school.
- Able to meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship.
- In possession of a C Class Driver Licence (Minimum Provisional).
- Able to complete a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
