The WHS Coordinator will support the delivery of comprehensive Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices across high-rise construction projects, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, project requirements and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide WHS support across high-rise construction sites, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, subcontractors and workers.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and compliance checks across multi-level construction environments.
- Identify hazards and assess risks associated with high-rise construction activities, including working at heights, plant and equipment, lifting operations, access and egress, and subcontractor activities.
- Review and monitor SWMS, JSA’s, risk assessments, permits and other WHS documentation.
- Support incident, injury, near-miss and hazard investigations and assist with implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, Australian Standards and project-specific requirements.
- Provide WHS advice, coaching and guidance to site teams and subcontractors.
- Assist with toolbox talks, site inductions and WHS training.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure required safety documentation is current.
- Maintain WHS registers, reports, inspection records and compliance documentation.
- Follow up identified hazards, corrective actions and outstanding safety issues.
- Work proactively with project teams to promote a positive and accountable safety culture.
- Assist with continuous improvement of WHS systems and processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Essential Criteria

- Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS/OHS) or equivalent qualification.




- Relevant WHS experience within the commercial or high-rise construction industry.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian WHS legislation, regulations and construction safety requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Secure Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk assessments, JSA/JHA, permits and safety management systems.
- Experience conducting site inspections, WHS audits and risk assessments.
- Experience with incident, hazard and near-miss investigations.
- Experience monitoring and managing subcontractor WHS compliance.
- Strong understanding of high-risk construction activities, including working at heights, lifting operations, mobile plant, traffic management and construction site hazards.
- Current White Card.
- Current Working at Heights training highly desirable.
- First Aid/CPR certification highly desirable.
- WHS training or relevant construction safety qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and proactively address safety risks.
- Current Australian driver's licence desirable.

Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have 3+ years’ experience in a WHS Coordinator, WHS Advisor or similar role, with demonstrated experience supporting high-rise or large-scale construction projects.

Experience working directly with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and construction teams will be highly regarded.
