About the Role

As a Family Support Worker,

you will play a vital role in supporting families living in public and Aboriginal housing to achieve safe, stable and sustainable tenancies. Working collaboratively with families, you will provide practical, strengths-based support that empowers clients to build independence, strengthen household routines and connect with their local community.

In this role, you will work alongside families to develop and implement tailored case plans, supporting them to achieve their goals while promoting long-term tenancy success. This includes providing practical guidance on tenancy rights and responsibilities, household cleaning and maintenance, establishing daily routines, and connecting families with community services and informal support networks.

You will also identify clients who may require additional or more specialised support and work closely with the Senior Case Worker to facilitate appropriate referrals, access resources and ensure families receive the services they need to thrive.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A tertiary qualification in Human Services, Community Development, Early Childhood Education or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Experience working with vulnerable families, including those impacted by substance use, domestic and family violence,

mental health challenges and complex support needs.
- A demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with Aboriginal families, applying culturally safe, respectful and strengths-based practices.
- Experience in case management, individual coaching and/or group facilitation, with the ability to support families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, child safety and safe work practices.
- The ability to travel across the region as required. Previous experience supporting clients with tenancy-related issues will be highly regarded.
