I’ve made those requirements explicit and positioned them as mandatory, not merely preferred.

We are building a high-performing team supported by dedicated credit and operations professionals, allowing our brokers to focus on what they do best: generating new clients, meeting with prospective borrowers, developing referral relationships and converting opportunities into successful settlements.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Finance Broker role based in Sydney, NSW, with a strong focus on front-end sales, business development and client acquisition.
This is not solely a loan-writing or application-processing position. The successful candidate must be capable of independently generating their own clients, building a consistent pipeline of new business and developing strong relationships with professional referral partners.
The Finance Broker will be responsible for prospecting for new clients, conducting initial client meetings, understanding clients’ financial positions and goals, and presenting tailored lending strategies across residential, commercial, asset and personal finance.
The successful candidate will be expected to actively grow their own client base through networking, referrals, relationship development, professional partnerships and proactive business development activities.
While Harrow & Co. may provide access to business opportunities, marketing support and established professional networks, the successful candidate must not be solely reliant on company-generated leads. They must demonstrate the ability, confidence and discipline required to independently source, nurture and convert their own clients.
Key responsibilities include
Independently generating new clients and building a consistent pipeline of self-sourced business.
Developing and maintaining relationships with accountants, financial planners, real estate agents,
buyers’ agents, property professionals and other referral partners.
Proactively prospecting, networking and identifying new business opportunities.
Attending client meetings, networking events, industry functions and referral-partner meetings.
Conducting initial client consultations and comprehensive discovery meetings.
Understanding clients’ financial circumstances, borrowing requirements and long-term objectives.
Structuring and presenting appropriate lending strategies.
Following up prospective clients and referral opportunities consistently.
Converting qualified leads into finance applications and settlements.
Managing and maintaining an active sales pipeline within the company’s CRM.
Identifying opportunities across residential lending, refinancing, investment lending, commercial finance, asset finance and SMSF lending.
Maintaining long-term relationships with clients and identifying future finance opportunities.
Working closely with the internal credit and loan-processing team to progress applications efficiently.
Maintaining regular communication with clients and referral partners throughout the finance process.
Achieving agreed activity, conversion, submission and settlement targets.
Representing Harrow & Co. professionally across meetings, events, social media and industry functions.
Ensuring all client recommendations and activities comply with responsible lending and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced credit and operations team that assists with document collection, application preparation, lender submissions, compliance and loan progression.
This support structure is designed to allow the Finance Broker to spend the majority of their time on front-end activities, including generating new clients, conducting meetings, strengthening referral relationships and converting new business.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
A minimum of three years’ experience working in mortgage broking, lending or a directly related finance-broking position.
A completed Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.
Demonstrated experience generating and converting their own clients.
A proven ability to independently build and manage a pipeline of new business.
An established or developing network of clients, referral partners or professional relationships.
Strong experience conducting client meetings, presenting lending strategies and converting opportunities into applications.
A sound understanding of residential lending products, lender policies, borrowing structures and responsible lending obligations.
Current or previous lender accreditations and experience submitting finance applications.
Strong knowledge of the end-to-end mortgage-broking process.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
Strong CRM, pipeline-management and client follow-up discipline.
A high level of professionalism, personal accountability and commercial awareness.
Applicants who do not have at least three years of relevant industry experience and a completed Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management will not be considered.
Highly Regarded Experience The following experience will be considered advantageous:
Commercial finance.
Asset finance.
SMSF lending.
Complex residential lending.
Self-employed and alternative-documentation lending.
Property investment lending.
Construction and development finance.
Experience developing relationships with accountants, financial planners, real estate agents and buyers’ agents.
An existing client base, referral network or loan book.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced, commercially minded and relationship-driven Finance Broker who enjoys being in front of clients and actively developing new business.
They will have a strong sales mindset and will be confident prospecting, networking, asking for referrals and developing relationships with skilled partners. They will understand that success in this role requires more than processing applications—it requires consistently creating opportunities and converting those opportunities into long-term client relationships.
The successful candidate will be capable of independently generating their own clients and will not be dependent solely on leads provided by Harrow & Co.
They will take ownership of their sales activity, client pipeline, referral relationships and business development results while working closely with the internal credit and operations team to deliver an exceptional client experience.
This role is suited to an ambitious broker who wants to build a significant client base, grow a strong personal brand and become a leading broker within a fast-growing financial services business.
