The Company

One of Australia's fastest-growing businesses in it's sector, this private equity-backed organisation operates at genuine scale, with a national footprint spanning more than 200 locations. It is backed by one of Australia's most respected private equity firms, which brings commercial rigour, strategic ambition and real growth momentum to everything the business does.

The Brisbane Head Office is the hub of a nationally connected operation, with dedicated teams across finance, people and culture, compliance, marketing and operations all working together to deliver at a standard the business is genuinely proud of. The culture is values-driven and lived, not just listed. Supportive, high-performing and built around people who show up, contribute and take pride in the quality of their work.

The finance team is approximately 43 people, with a direct team of 15 sitting under the Head of Finance. It is a well-structured function with clear reporting lines, genuine technical depth and real career development pathways that are actively used.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this Financial Accountant role sits at the technical heart of a large, complex finance function. It spans month-end close, statutory reporting, treasury, tax compliance, internal controls and technical accounting advice to the business. The scope is broad, the learning curve is steep in the best possible way, and the work matters.

This is a permanent role based in Brisbane CBD with one to two days working from home per week. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

- Managing month-end processes including reconciliations, journal entries and adherence to accounting standards including AASB 16
- Preparing monthly financial reports including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements with variance analysis
- Contributing to the monthly CFO Board Report, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery

- Managing cash flow modelling and treasury reporting including direct cash flow forecasting and bank covenant compliance
- Supporting preparation and review of all tax obligations including GST, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT and current and deferred tax calculations
- Supporting preparation of statutory financial statements, annual external audit and sustainability reporting
- Enforcing internal controls to minimise fraud risk including regular updates to the Internal Control Framework
- Liaising with external auditors, banks, tax advisers and financial advisors on taxation, audit and banking matters
- Providing technical accounting advice to internal stakeholders and preparing technical accounting discussion papers
- Supporting the tracking and management of government funding revenues, expenditures and grant requirements
- Implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce manual tasks and enhance financial data accuracy

About You

You are a technically strong accountant who has come through a rigorous training environment and is ready to bring those foundations into a complex, quick-moving commercial business. You are equally comfortable getting into the detail of a month-end reconciliation as you are presenting a technical accounting position to senior leadership or liaising with external auditors. You do not need to be hand-held through the fundamentals.

You are ready to operate with autonomy, back yourself on complex technical matters and contribute to a team that takes genuine pride in the quality of it's work.

You show up, you communicate well and you roll up your sleeves.

In a values-driven culture built around team spirit and going above and beyond, that matters as much as your technical capability.

Skills & Experience To be effective in this role, you will likely bring:

- CA or CPA qualified, or near completion
- Big 4 or mid-tier audit or business services background, either as a first mover or with subsequent commercial experience
- Strong technical accounting skills including month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting
- Working knowledge of AASB 16 and experience applying accounting standards in a commercial environment
- Experience with group consolidations and intercompany transactions, highly regarded
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel and confidence navigating ERP systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical positions clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- A genuine willingness to contribute, take ownership and operate in a hands-on environment

What's On Offer

This is a technically rich Financial Accountant role inside a well-structured, PE-backed business with real scale, genuine career development and a culture that backs it's people.

The scope of the role is broad and the finance function is large enough to offer clear progression pathways without losing the hands-on technical depth that makes the work genuinely interesting. For a CA or CPA who wants to sharpen their skills across statutory, treasury, tax, controls and reporting inside a single role, this delivers it.

On top of the work itself, the business offers an exceptional benefits package flexible parental leave support, corporate discount programs, wellbeing support, internal mentorship and ongoing professional development.
