We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant for an immediate contract prospect, supporting key financial reporting, compliance and accounting functions within a complex and fast-paced environment.
Your new role
As the Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and providing technical financial advice across the organisation. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors while contributing to month-end and year-end financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, general ledger reconciliations and position papers.
- Support month-end processes and external audit requirements.
- Provide technical accounting advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in the delivery of financial reports, supporting notes and compliance reporting requirements.
- Liaise with auditors and prepare supporting documentation.
- Analyse financial data,
prepare reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting accuracy.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role within a medium to large organisation.
- CA or CPA membership (or working towards) is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, legislation and financial controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using large financial management systems.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
