A growing multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy based in South Melbourne that provides a flexible and friendly environment, looking to grow with its employees and expand its structural and civil engineering design services in the residential and commercial sectors.
As the successful candidate, you will be offered an immediate start and a negotiable salary. Salary is dependent on how many years experience the candidate has.
Qualifications & experience
- MINIMUM +5 years experience in the local residential structural engineering field as a structural design engineer (civil engineering experience preferred/advantageous, however not necessarily required)
- MUST have the capability to both structurally design & ADEQUATELY DOCUMENT residential/commercial basements and suspended reinforced concrete slabs (one and two way slabs). Much of this role is structural design & structural drafting/documentation
- ***MUST demonstrate strong proficiency in AutoCAD structural drafting and the preparation of clear, well-organised documentation***
- A bachelors degree in structural engineering
- A good understanding in structural design and knowledge of the Australian Standards for the design of reinforced concrete, steel & timber
- Extensive experience in the structural design of residential dwellings
- Experience in commercial and concrete structures is preferred
- Great & effective communication & people skills (with employees, clients, consultants and other stakeholders)
- Knowledge with the use of Inducta SLB, Wallap, Tekla Tedds & Structural Toolkit (preferred experience with SpaceGass, OSD4W, SLOG, Explicit Calcs, RAPT and/or ETABS)
- Practical and hands-on knowledge of general building practice
- Capability to efficiently manage the workload of multiple projects whilst ensuring deadlines are met
- Willingness to grow and attentive to details
Tasks & responsibilities
- To design the structural and civil components of residential and commercial developments to the relevant Australian Standards and NCC requirements, and to adequately document and publish sets of structural and civil engineering design drawings
- Structural engineering to include the design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber and masonry
- Development of civil engineering drainage designs and documentation to the relevant Australian Standards, NCC and local Council requirements for residential and commercial developments
- Civil engineering to include the design of stormwater drainage and on-site detention (OSD)
- Liaise with clients and council for project deliverables
- Attend site inspections as required
