About the role

Specsavers Merrylands is seeking a dedicated and organised Full time Clinical Coordinator/Optical Assistant to join our dynamic team in the Western Suburb of Sydney NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our optical practice and delivering exceptional patient care.

As Clinical

Coordinator/Optical Assistant, you will be the backbone of our clinic operations, managing patient flow, assisting with clinical procedures, and maintaining a welcoming workplace for all our customers. This role is essential to supporting our optometrists and dispensing opticians whilst ensuring patients receive a seamless and professional experience from the moment they arrive.

Key responsibilities

1. Greeting patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, managing check-in procedures and ensuring accurate patient records are maintained
2. Assisting optometrists during clinical examinations, including operating diagnostic equipment and recording patient information
3. Preparing examination rooms and ensuring all clinical equipment is clean, sanitised and functioning correctly
4. Managing patient flow and appointment scheduling to maximise efficiency and minimise waiting times
5. Processing payments, handling cash and card transactions, and managing basic financial records
6. Providing support to dispensing opticians during frame selection and lens fitting
7. Maintaining a clean and organised clinical and retail environment in accordance with health and safety standards
8. Processing and recording orders for optical supplies and inventory management
9. Answering telephone enquiries professionally and booking appointments

Supporting the team with general administrative duties as required

What we're looking for

1. Previous experience in a clinical, healthcare or customer service environment is highly desirable
2. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work under pressure
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service
4. Proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn practice management software
5. Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling patient records and financial transactions
6. Physical ability to perform duties including standing for extended periods
7. A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach to working within a team
8. Reliability and punctuality with a professional approach to the role
9. Basic knowledge of optical terminology and products is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided
10. Must be available to work weekends
