Garden Maintenance Operator

Wodonga, VIC | Part-Time or Full-Time Opportunity

Merriwa Industries is seeking an experienced and motivated Garden Maintenance Operator (Grade 5) to join our growing Garden Maintenance team based in Wodonga.

This exciting opportunity is available on either a part-time or full-time basis for the right applicant and offers the chance to work across a diverse range of residential, commercial and public spaces while making a meaningful impact in the community.

About the role

As a Grade 5 Garden Maintenance Operator, you will be a trade-qualified professional responsible for delivering high-quality horticultural and landscaping services. You will work autonomously while supporting and guiding team members to ensure exceptional presentation and maintenance outcomes.

Key responsibilities

- Perform grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, trimming, leaf blowing and general garden maintenance.
- Undertake landscaping activities, including preparing garden beds, spreading mulch and soil, laying turf and watering.
- Operate and maintain equipment, including lawn mowers, whipper snippers and leaf blowers.
- Assist with on-the-job training and provide guidance to team members.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.




- Follow all workplace health and safety requirements and use personal protective equipment at all times.

About you To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent practical experience.
- Three to five years’ experience working in parks, gardens or landscaping.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience operating machinery and equipment safely.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A commitment to safety, professionalism and quality outcomes.

Essential requirements

- Current Victorian Working with Children Check
- National Police Check.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- International Police Check (where applicable).
- Current driver’s licence.
- White Card.
- (Note: Should you not hold any of these checks, the successful applicant will have Merriwa fund these on their behalf).
