About the role Perth Airport is seeking a Senior Heritage Advisor, to provide specialist heritage advice and support to project teams across the Perth Airport estate. You will ensure heritage risks, obligations and commitments are effectively identified, managed and integrated. This is a hands-on role where your strong communication and relationship-building skills will be essential in fostering positive relationships with local Traditional Owner groups and community stakeholders. These partnerships will help build strong foundations for the Airport and support our ongoing commitment to the Wadjuk Noongar people.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the management of heritage values and deliver approvals to meet statutory obligations.
- Accountable for compliance with the requirements of the Airport Act 1996, Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 , and other necessary legislation.
- Supports the integration of heritage requirements into project planning, design, procurement and delivery activities.
- Assists to identify and manage cultural heritage risks, obligations and commitments.
- Coordinates heritage studies, surveys and specialist consultant activities supporting project delivery.
- Lead the development and implementation of Aboriginal Heritage management plans, associated documentation and related processes, including project delivery integration for Offset Sites.
- Lead the planning and implementation of heritage surveys and any other heritage matters.
- Manage heritage and support the Workplace team to manage environmental values on PAPL's offset sites in accordance with regulatory and approval requirements.
- Lead the building and maintenance of strong relationships with Traditional Owners groups and individuals both on the ground and at the corporate level.
About You
You are a passionate and experienced heritage professional who brings extensive knowledge in Aboriginal stakeholder engagement with Noongar people. You bring a collaborative and culturally respectful approach to your work and a sound understanding of federal and state heritage legislation. To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Anthropology/Archaeology or equivalent or lived and/or demonstrated experience considered in lieu of qualifications.
- Demonstrated a minimum of 7 years’ experience working in a similar role within a complex stakeholder environment.
- A strong background in Aboriginal stakeholder engagement, with particular focus on engagement with Noongar people is highly desirable.
- Very good working knowledge of relevant federal and state heritage legislation and experience in obtaining Aboriginal heritage approvals.
- An understanding of environmental and heritage compliance and management during development and operations.
