Adelaide University is seeking to appoint an academic leader of international standing to join the Institute for Photonics, Advanced Sensing and Quantum Technologies (IPAS-QT) as its next Director.
Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Performance), the next Director will champion breakthrough science and transformative technologies and provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight to advance the Institute’s position as a globally recognised leader in photonics, advanced sensing, quantum technologies and transdisciplinary research. The Director will ensure the continued growth, reputation and sustainability of the Institute, advancing discovery, innovation and societal impact in alignment with the University’s strategic vision and research ambitions. The Director will shape the Institute’s future direction by fostering a high-performing and team-oriented research culture, and driving excellence in research innovation, translation, entrepreneurial activity and commercialisation.
As the next Director of IPAS-QT, the responsibilities are substantive and will require a world class scholar. You will have considerable experience in a relevant field with an outstanding track record in advancing research efforts in your field. You should have developed and implemented research projects in close collaboration across scientific, industry, community, and policy stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a global outlook who is passionate about nurturing the next generation of scientists and engineers. You will have the drive for building on the IPAS-QT’s platform for advancement and mission to push excellence in research and intellectual leadership, and diversify funding sources and to grow the impact of the Institute.
