Our client is a large, ASX-listed retail business that has scaled rapidly across multiple regions. Following a solid growth period, they're making a significant investment in maturing their risk capability, and this newly created role sits right at the centre of that.
This is a genuine build. This is a rare chance to shape and embed an enterprise risk framework across a complex, fast-moving business, working with the full backing of the executive team and board.
About the role
Working closely with the Chief Legal Officer and partnering with the executive, and the board, you'll lead the design and embedding of enterprise risk controls across the business.
This is a hands-on, roll-your-sleeves-up role not a figurehead position. You'll be in the detail, building process and controls where little exists today, and helping define what a fit-for-purpose risk function looks like for the organisation going forward.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, building and embedding enterprise risk controls, processes and documentation across a regionalised operating model
- Partnering hand-in-hand with other functions to deliver against the remediation program
- Engaging a broad and diverse stakeholder group to align on risk appetite, tolerance and priorities
- Translating risk requirements into clear, credible guidance for the board and executive team
- Assessing and shaping the future-state risk function, with scope to build out a team over time
About you
- Significant enterprise risk experience gained in-house, with a track record of embedding controls in a complex organisation (rather than advising from the sidelines)
- The seniority, gravitas and commercial presence to engage confidently at board and executive level
- A genuine builder, comfortable operating in an environment where frameworks and processes are still being established
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to drive impact across a diverse, distributed stakeholder base
