The Opportunity

Sharp & Carter is pleased to be partnering with Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) in the search for their next Finance Manager.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plays a critical leadership role across the organisation's finance function, with responsibility for financial accounting, statutory reporting, taxation compliance, audit management, financial controls and finance systems. The role will also lead a small team and provide trusted financial advice to senior executives, the Board and key external stakeholders.

A significant focus of the role will be leading the finance workstream of a major ERP implementation, providing an opportunity to influence how finance operates across the organisation for years to come. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial governance, improving systems and processes, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial information.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong finance leader who enjoys balancing compliance, stakeholder engagement, people leadership and systems improvement within a purpose-driven organisation.

About VICSES

Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service that plays a critical role in protecting Victorian communities before, during and after emergencies. Their volunteers and staff work together to build community resilience while providing emergency response services across the state.

As Australia's largest road rescue network, VICSES provides a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents, supports Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and works alongside agencies including CFA, Fire Rescue Victoria and DEECA during major emergency events.

About You

- CA or CPA qualification, together with tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Strong technical accounting capability, including experience with financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit management and taxation obligations.
- Extensive experience working with ERP finance systems, with exposure to system implementation or transformation projects highly regarded.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with an ability to mentor, develop and support finance teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with executive leaders, boards, auditors and external agencies.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to drive better systems, controls and processes.
- Previous experience within a government department, statutory authority or broader public sector environment will be highly regarded.
