For more than 80 years, Uncle Bobs Club (UBC) has been improving the lives of children with medical needs throughout Victoria. Through community fundraising, we provide essential medical equipment, fund health services and research, support scholarships and fellowships, and assist children and families in need.

With branches and groups across metropolitan and regional Victoria, our volunteers are united by one goal—to improve children's health through community action.

About the Role

As a Volunteer Board Director, you will help shape the strategic direction and governance of Uncle Bobs Club while ensuring the organisation continues to deliver meaningful outcomes for Victorian children.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about community, children's health, and making a lasting difference through good governance.

Directors work collaboratively with fellow Board members, committees, volunteers, and community stakeholders to support the ongoing growth and sustainability of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership and contribute to the future direction of the organisation.
- Ensure strong governance and compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
- Uphold the mission, values and objectives of Uncle Bobs Club.
- Participate in Board discussions and contribute to informed decision-making.
- Support organisational planning, risk management and financial sustainability.
- Serve on Board committees or working groups where appropriate.
- Act as an ambassador for Uncle Bobs Club within the community.
- Support fundraising initiatives and community engagement activities.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and organisational growth.
- Attend key events, including the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

About You

- Bring professional skills or lived experience that will strengthen our Board.

Previous Board experience is welcomed but not essential.

Time Commitment

- Approximately 4–8 hours per month.
- Attend monthly Board meetings (currently held online via Zoom).
- Participate in strategic planning sessions and committee meetings as required.
- Attend occasional fundraising and community events throughout the year.

Applicants must:

- Become (or already be) a financial member of Uncle Bobs Club.
- Hold a current Working With Children Check.
- Successfully complete a National Police Check.
- Commit to a 12-month appointment (with opportunities for reappointment).
- Support the values and mission of Uncle Bobs Club.
